How My Family’s Restaurant Taught Me to Serve in Real Estate

When people ask where my work ethic comes from, I tell them it started behind the counter — not at a closing table.

For nearly five decades, my family has run Chelokababi Restaurant in Sunnyvale, a local Persian restaurant that’s been part of the South Bay community since 1978. I grew up there — learning what it means to take pride in your craft, care for people, and do things the right way, even when no one’s watching.

Lessons from a Family Legacy

At Chelokababi, my father taught me that service isn’t just about the food — it’s about the experience. You show up early, you pay attention to every detail, and you treat every guest like they matter, because they do.

Those lessons never left me.

Today, as a South Bay real estate agent, I approach every client the same way. Whether someone is buying their first condo in Sunnyvale, selling a family home in Los Gatos, or searching for a forever home in San Jose, my goal is the same: deliver an experience that feels personal, honest, and complete.

From Plates to Properties

Running a restaurant and helping someone buy or sell a home may seem worlds apart, but they share something important — people trust you with meaningful moments in their lives.

In real estate, just like in hospitality, every detail counts. You don’t get to cut corners. You show up. You listen. You care enough to go the extra mile — whether that means negotiating a tough deal, fixing a staging issue at 10 p.m., or simply being there to answer questions with patience and respect.

That’s what service means to me. It’s not about volume — it’s about integrity.

Why It Matters in Real Estate

In Silicon Valley, where homes move fast and competition is fierce, real estate can feel like a numbers game. But I see it differently.

To me, success isn’t just about closing deals — it’s about building relationships that last. It’s about being someone clients can trust with their biggest investment, because they know I’ll give them the same honesty, pride, and commitment that my family has given our restaurant guests for nearly 50 years.

Carrying the Legacy Forward

Chelokababi taught me that great service builds great communities. That’s what I strive to bring into real estate every day — service rooted in family values, local pride, and hard work.

If you’re thinking about buying or selling a home in the South Bay, I’d be honored to bring that same dedication to your journey. Let’s make your next move something to celebrate — maybe even over some Persian food.
